Ancient Ireland:

Photographic Series

In the summer of 2005, I made an artist's journey throughout some of Irelands’ ancient sites, focusing on the south and west coastal areas. Travelling through small communities and centuries-old historic sites, I was struck by the still-visible evidence of early civilization. Fragments of castles, friarys, churches, and homes still exist, along with walls, gates, and gardens — evidence of lives once lived in these ancient locations. The hand of man is apparent in early constructions like the Bee Hive Huts on the Dingle Peninsula, the ancient fort of Dun Angus on the Aran Islands, and the friary at Ross Eirilly in Galway. I wanted to capture and memorialize these ancient signs as a way of connecting with my Irish family roots. I was blessed with good weather and light for photographing, and found some magical locations and scenes.
